About Mike

Mike Hutcheson was born in St. Louis, Missouri with a wooden spatula in his hand. According to his mother, Mike's first words were "you can always add, but you can't take away." While most boys were interested in hockey and soccer, Mike was intrigued with the challenge of finding the perfect condiment to complement his latest culinary creation.

With over 23 years in the food industry, Mike's early days of dishing began as a chef in St. Louis. Being young and footloose, the allure of the west coast and garden fresh ingredients drew him to California. Mike perfected his culinary skills while working at some of the finest restaurants in California dishing for many celebrities such as: Frank Sinatra; Tony Bennett; Wayne Newton; Merv Griffin, Paul Anka; Jerry Lewis and President Nixon at his Pacific Palisades Home. In 1986, Mike had the pleasure of cooking for Peter Ueberroth and the Olympic Committee. After 13 years as a chef, Mike’s career path changed to food sales. He currently works in menu development for many national restaurant chains. If you regularly dine at any of the national restaurant chains, chances are you have enjoyed one of Mike's creations.

Dishing With Mike - The Old DaysWhen Mike isn't "dishing", he enjoys spending time with his wife of 18 years, Mary Ellen, and their two children, Zachary, 13 years, and Francie, 8 years. Besides grilling, Mike's other favorite pastimes include: tennis, golf, and enjoying a good cigar.
