Fun Food Terms
- Fantastic: what you say when everything looks fantastic even if it does not
- We got Action: oil is hot and the garlic is dancing
- I like it hot: the act of adding heat to a food item
- BOOM: the final touch "BOOM"
- You can always add but you can’t take away: try it you’ll like it if not add a little magic
- Fester: a group hug done by all of the flavors in a marinade
- Uncle Up: the process by which the group hug now infiltrates the protein
- Magic Dust: Italian breadcrumbs used for everything
- Scmutz: when a little is good a lot is even better
- Pinch: no relation to when your great aunt used to pinch your cheek as a child
- A Clean Kitchen is a Happy Kitchen: if you have time to lean you have time to clean
- Keep it simple: even the kids can understand the process
- OK: one of my favorite sayings when I need to fill airtime and look like I know what I am doing. This is indeed keeping it simple.
- Fire it up: turn on the gas and crank up the heat.
- Al' Dente: when a food item is cooked but still has some snap or crunch to it. Canned Green Beans would NOT be al' dente.
- Quality Control: the art of using your index finger to taste your food before you "Dish it Up"

- Rough Cut: an old shop class term now used in cooking
- Jigger: when I really do not have a specific reciepe amount we use a jigger
- Texture: when your taste buds and palette have a dialogue about the food in your mouth
- Layering: connecting the dots of flavor
- Flat Edge: this is not a new hair cut offered at Stephanie’s although we sure want her to be careful when she is using the #3 around my ears
